Then I bought this coon skin hat. That one bad decision changed my life forever. Look at me now, a decade later. I teach wilderness skills for a living. I travel by dog sled in the winter. I dwell in the forests, my body has grown a long beard, I live in off the grid in a cabin in the woods. I make my own buckskin clothing. I have left society and am mostly ferrell. In November 2012 I was coming off of a summer camp In November 2012 I was coming off of a summer camp job working at Youth Leadership Camps in Orillia. A few of the people at the camp suggested I get winter work at this dog sledding place a couple hours north. I applied, and met a very unique and skilled man called Paul Reid. I knew nothing about dog sledding. I was only there one season but it changed my life path forever. The company no longer exists and most of the dogs were adopted out after Pauls death in 2016. My favourite dog when I worked there was Bongo.

A few years ago I found a set of real Sealskin boo A few years ago I found a set of real Sealskin boots. They had sheepskin linings and were made by Aicad Trento of Italy. They were badly damaged. I brought them home and pulled them apart and rebuilt them. Replacing the clunky soles with crepe rubber. Doing this honours the life of the seal, and gives me years of use out of an otherwise scrap pair of shoes.
