With over a half century of knife making expertise, Browning knives have become well loved by people around the world. Browning knives are built for hard use. Browning knives have become a big part of the outdoors. From skinning and dressing game, to tactical and combat knives used by police and military forces world-wide.
Today’s Browning knives are created by knife maker Russ Kommer, a famous guide who leads clients through Alaska and Idaho. Although many may feel that guiding ends with clients taking trophy animals, it actually begins there. Once an animal has been taken by a hunter, the real work begins. Over the years Russ Kommer used dozens of knives to skin countless animals, but found many of these knives lacking in one way or another. Russ used his wealth of experience to start designing and producing some of the best combat and outdoor knives on the market.
Brownings Tactical knife division “Black Label” creates some of the most unique and useable survival knives on the market today.
The Black Label Stone Cold Tanto Cord is more than just a beautiful shark-like, imposing knife. The blade is designed with a hefty tanto point blade, which has been crafted of matte black 440 stainless steel with a hollow grind, serrations near the grip, and a pronounced front guard. The blade also has a square pommel with a hardened glass breaking point for tactical use.
The blade also features a finger grooved handle which can be used during a combat situation or as a fire-striker. The production model of this knife has a finger grooved handle, giving a complete full tang design, with a hand-wrapped paracord handle. This gives more usability to the blade as it can be used in survival situations. This knife is specifically designed to help you cut, pry, slash, and smash your way out of any situation.
The knife sheath is moulded polymer Kydex and has been specifically designed as a bushcraft / survival knife. With multiple mounting points, the knife can be attached securely to a belt, leg, web gear, tactical vest, or anywhere that it is required for fast access in any situation.
When Browning started the Black Label line, their concept was to design functional and innovative knives for all situations. They began with Browning Black Label Tactical knives. Using the some of the finest materials on the market and most modern manufacturing processes available they produced one of the ultimate knives for the working professional. Designed with direct feedback from special operations, military, law enforcement and civilian knife experts, Browning perfected one of the best full tactical blades designed and equipped for mission specific tasks. None of the design of the Cold Tanto Cord would have been possible without the help of Jared Wihongi and Russ Kommer. Jared, Browning’s chief consultant on matters of martial arts and self defense, particularly in the use of knives. Russ is considered one of the most innovative and knowledgeable knife designers in the world.
One of the great features of this knife is the full-tang hand grip. The entire knife is a drop forge stamped unit, and there are no parts to break off or get damaged from hard use. Without having any form of secondary handle, the blade becomes a highly useful and dependable tool.
The paracord wrapped handle can also be easily deployed at a moments noticed and used for anything from creating snares, replacing shoe laces, to wrapping the knife to a branch to make a spear during a survival situation. The knife is just as comfortable and easy to use with or without the paracord wrap on the handle.
From a tactical perspective the knife has a solid hand grip which is formed with metal spikes which will both aid in grip, and gives the user a tactical advantage during a tactical situation.
It does not matter if you require a tactical knife for work in the military or law enforcement, or you are a survivalist / prepper – this knife is one of the best on the market. The hard 440 steel will ensure the knife can take a beating and still be fully functional for many years.
